The South American team, Peru Unite, became the Pokemon UNITE World Champions when they beat Zeta Division on August 17, 2025. Similar to Ved Bamb being the first player from India to win Pokemon GO Worlds, Peru Unite became the first Latin American team to do so in Pokemon UNITE. However, this isn’t their first title as this group had previously won the Aeos Cup at EUIC 2024.

What’s more impressive is that at Worlds after reaching the Top 16, Peru Unite dominated anyone they came against. They beat Stamina Esports 2-1, Aegis Flames 2-0, Luminosity 3-2, before finally defeating Zeta Division 3-1 at Worlds 2025.

Peru Unite: Which Pokemon Did They Use at Worlds 2025?

Jose Arias, a.k.a. Anemo, used Leafeon and Scyther to superb effect. Meanwhile, Axel Xavier Rivas, a.k.a. KHEA, also got a lot of use out of Buzzwole, and Jeremy Rivas, a.k.a. Tempo, won MVP of the fourth game with Lucario. However, if there was one player and Pokemon that defined the Finals of the 2025 Pokemon UNITE World Championships, it was Jesús Vásquez Antaccasa, a.k.a. DrakenN04, and his use of Crustle in the final match that his team played.

DrakenN04 used Crustle’s Rock Tomb and X-Scissor to trap Zeta Division’s Pokemon multiple times. But the most important moment was near the end of the last game, where DrakenN04’s Crustle managed to get a 4 KO kill streak, which put Peru so far ahead in the game that Zeta was unable to catch up. Crustle came in clutch once more when there was only slightly above a minute left on the timer.

DrakenN04 KOd Zeta Division’s Genki Tejima, a.k.a. Tomato’s Snorlax, leaving them without a powerful asset in the clutch moments of the match. This let Peru Unite take Rayquaza, sealing the game in their favor. Deservedly, DrakenN04 and Crustle were the MVPs of that match.
