Popular Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” has called out those criticizing Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl half-time show. On February 10, 2025, Poki stated that only “white people” hated the show. She pointed out that only people with “zero music capabilities” thought that Kendrick did not deserve the show.
For those unaware, Kendrick Lamar performed at the Super Bowl halftime show and faced mixed reactions. Some fans thought the show was boring, while some thought it was great. Poki however, thought the rapper tried to convey underlying messages through the performance.
“People with probably zero music capabilities think that Kendrick Lamar didn’t deserve the halftime show. Huh? I, what? What do you mean? Sure, we can sit here and be like, ‘I actually think this! Or this deserved it.’ What? Only white people hated it. I didn’t want to say it. As a white-passing person, I didn’t want to say that.”

Users on social media pointed out that the background performers donned the American flag colors during Kendrick’s performance. The performance also featured appearances from celebrities including Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, and Serena Williams.
Fans also criticized Kendrick for the lack of his classic songs and for making the performance about his rival Drake. The streamer stated that most of the people that she saw criticizing the performance, were white men. Poki claimed that Lamar’s performance conveyed underlying messages:
“Also, you know what pissed me off the most? The people that I saw with this take the most were white men. Ain’t nothing wrong being a white man, that’s not the point. My point is that, if you actually watched his performance and really took it in, you would be like, ‘There are some underlying messages that the performance is trying to convey. Especially during Black History Month.'”
Pokimane was born in Morocco and later moved to Canada, where she grew up and started her streaming career. She has over 9.4 million followers on Twitch and is one of the most-followed female streamers on the platform. During the half-time show, Imane also remarked on the Super Bowl attendees shouting out Kendrick Lamar’s lyrics:
“the whole crowd saying “a minoooooor””

Pokimane’s Grammy Appearance
Poki was one of the first streamers, who appeared at the Grammys. Her appearance was criticized by several users on social media, stating that she is a streamer and not a music artist, while others, including fellow streamers praised Poki. Apart from Pokimane, Kai Cenat also took the spotlight at the awards. Kai is the first streamer to broadcast from the Grammys.

During the awards ceremony, she tweeted that being in the same room as popular music artists was “insane.” The streamer also questioned if the artists would be game to play Among Us.
“being in the same room as taylor swift, chappel roan, doechii, sabrina carpenter, beyonce, and more is insane… do you think they’d be down to play among us”
