With the release of the improved Powerbeats Pro 2, let’s take a look at the comparison between Apple AirPods Pro 2 and Powerbeats Pro 2.

The Powerbeats Pro has always been a premium earbud compared to the Apple earbuds. However, over time, Beats earphones have fallen back in audio quality and features, and Apple earphones have started to launch much better-quality earphones.
Beats launched the all-new Powerbeats Pro 2 in February 2025, with big changes and new features. The newer model of Powerbeats Pro has a lightweight design tailored for more active users while integrating the new heart rate monitoring system in the earbuds. The key updates include the addition of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and the major design changes to the earbuds.
The new changes and addition of features to the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 now make it a high-end option and compete directly against Apple’s AirPods Pro 2, with the two models priced similarly at $249. Let’s take a look at the specifications of both the earbuds.

Features
Both the Powerbeats Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 2 have the Apple H2 chip, which makes them share a lot of features. They both offer Active Noise Cancellation, a new feature introduced to the Powerbeats Pro 2 along with transparency mode, which lets in ambient noise.

Each of these earbuds has features like Adaptive EQ which adjusts the audio output to match the user’s ear shape. The tuning can enhance the audio quality of the earbuds. Additionally, Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking is also available on both the earbuds, which delivers an immersive listening experience, and both of them support Lossless audio playback.

Both Powerbeats Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 2 can be integrated seamlessly within the Apple ecosystem. They both offer one-touch pairing, automatic switching between devices, and audio sharing with Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, or Macs.
They also have the Find My feature, but here, the AirPods Pro 2 has a lead. The Airpods Pro 2 case has the U1 chip, which allows precise tracking with newer iPhones, whereas the PowerBeats Pro 2 offers a more basic version of Find My which lets users trigger sound from each earbud.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 has an advantage on the Android side as it offers a dedicated app with all the additional features for Android users which helps it support features like one-touch pairing, Locate My Beats, switching between listening modes, and getting updates. When it comes to audio quality, both earbuds offer good audiophile-level sound quality with minimal sound distortion.
Health Features
Both the AirPods Pro 2 and Powerbeats Pro 2 have included health-focused features that help the users in different aspects of well-being. Beats’ new Powerbeats Pro 2 has implemented a new Optical sensor in the earbuds to monitor the user’s heart rate.
Reportedly, the data captured by the earbuds from their heart rate sensor is more accurate than smartwatches. The heart rate of the user can only be measured when both earbuds are worn at the same time, and the heart rate data can be monitored on third-party apps on iPhones and Androids.

While the Powerbeats Pro has heart rate monitoring, AirPods Pro 2 offers health features for Hearing aid. They have scientifically backed Hearing tests that work with the iPhone to detect hearing loss and deliver instant results in the Health app. The Hearing aid feature also enables users with hearing loss to listen to certain frequencies.

Battery Life and Charging Case
The battery life of the new Powerbeats Pro 2 can last up to 10 hours with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) off and 8 hours with ANC on. With the charging case, it’s up to 35 hours with ANC off and 28 hours with ANC on.

The AirPods Pro 2 can last up to 7 hours with ANC off and 5.5 hours with ANC on. The charging case offers an additional 28 hours with ANC off and 22 hours with ANC on.
The AirPods Pro 2 comes with a wireless MagSafe charging case and supports USB-C charging. The Powerbeats Pro 2 also supports wireless charging and USB-C charging with Fast Fuel technology, which gives 1.5 hours of playback with 5 minutes of charging.

AirPods Pro 2 vs Powerbeats Pro 2: Overall Verdict
The new Powerbeats Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 2 are very similar in features excluding the health-related features in both the earbuds. They both use the same Apple H2 chip which makes them have similar features. Some features like Active Noise Canceling come with the newly released Powerbeats Pro 2, which it had missed for years. It is now a much more viable high-end earbud option other than the AirPods Pro 2.
While some users might prefer the more sport-centric, ear hook design of the Powerbeats Pro 2, others might prefer the compact, sleek form factor of the AirPods Pro 2. The smaller case of the AirPods Pro 2 makes them easier to carry around, but the bigger size of the Powerbeats Pro 2 contributes to a longer battery life.
Moreover, the heart rate monitoring system present in the PowerBeats Pro 2 makes it a strong option. For users seeking fitness-focused functionalities with support for both Android and IOS, extended battery life, and don’t mind the bulkier design, the Powerbeats Pro 2 is a good choice.
On the other hand, for users who are looking for a more integrated and seamless Apple ecosystem experience with features like Conversation Awareness, Hearing aid, and precise Find My, while accepting the lack of Android support and shorter battery life, the AirPods Pro 2 are a go-to choice.
