A new action game, Project Century, has been announced at TGA 2024 and it looks great! Here’s all you need to know about it.

Project Century came out of nowhere and shook the audience with its surprise reveal. The game and the studio behind it didn’t reveal a whole lot. However, they teased us just enough to get us hyped for what we saw!
If you are someone who enjoys modern beat-em-up-type games, you are in for a ride. Even if you are someone who is always looking for a game with a unique art style and setting, the game won’t disappoint you. The game comes from the development studio behind the Yakuza and Judgment games.
Buckle up for Project Century

Project Century takes players back to 1915, in what appears to be a Japanese coastal town. The game is still under development yet looks impressive with the art direction chosen. Since it comes from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, you can spot some similarities with the Yakuza games. We noted the following highlights:
- The Yakuza games adopted a turn-based combat system in the series for quite a while. However, Judgment stuck to the typical real-time combat. Project Century is heading toward the latter. While Ryu Ga is already popular for brutal combat, the gore in the upcoming game appears amped up, reminding us of the execution in the Sleeping Dogs game.
- The game is not a typical, mindless beat-em-up. Instead, we saw glimpses of a story. The protagonist was walking with a woman in one of the scenes, and the story could be connected to her. The setting will allow for a much more personal narration rather than a city-wide conspiracy.
- It also appears that the game will have a dynamic weather system. There is a rain fight scene that looks as cinematic as ever. Hopefully, we will see more dynamic weather in future reveals.
- There will also be enemy variation. The protagonist can be seen fighting an armed brute twice his size toward the end of the reveal. The size difference will exaggerate the variations and will be fun to try.
- Lastly, we know that the game won’t be called Project Century. This is the project name that developers often adopt before finalizing the title of the game. However, the gory combat suggests that it may not be another Yakuza game after all.
