After Rainbow Six lost its charm to its fans, the game expects to bounce back. Here are all the Rainbow Six Siege X expectations for the players.

Rainbow Six Siege X is an upgrade to the old base game. This would be an understatement following the announcements about the changes. The game has been updated to its very core, from maps to gameplay, to its anti-cheat and game modes. So, what are the Rainbow Six Siege X expectations for launch day? Here’s what we know about Rainbow Six Siege X’s various changes coming to the game on June 10, 2025.
Rainbow Six Siege X Expectations and Facts
New Game Mode

The new Dual Front mode is something totally different from the base gameplay of Rainbow Six. While the original had a round-based objective, the Dual Front mode is a skirmish, a 6v6 where you take control of map areas. This doesn’t sound too different from what Battlefield and CoD have to offer, but R6X has operators with different abilities.
Along with the various new destructible objects and map knowledge, players will be able to set up various flanks and choke points to eliminate and take over the objectives. This new game mode is something fresh, and only new map updates will tell if the game mode is better or more enjoyable than the original.
However, the Dual Front mode will only be playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. Rainbow Six Siege X expectations for previous-generation players might be to stick to the older modes, probably due to hardware limitations.
Map Changes, Overhaul, and Season Updates

Five new graphically overhauled maps are coming at launch in Rainbow Six Siege X. Plus, Ubisoft has announced that 4K textures with better lighting and graphic fidelity will improve the base game’s visuals. You are also promised three new maps every season.
The most interesting part about the maps is the destructible objects. The base game already had a really good environment where ingenuity and knowledge could play a large hand in winning maps. Now, with the addition of fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors, there is a fresh layer of how these objects will be used and interacted with, especially if the game revives itself in the e-sports scene.
Fire extinguishers can be shot to concuss enemies, gas pipes explode after a while, and metal detectors will help detect drones and the sneaky gadgets placed by operators.
Rappelling also has new movement based on motion capture to make the animations and gameplay more fluid. Ubisoft says it focuses on how players will sprint horizontally and maneuver around corners with a rappel.
For now, these are the visual upgrades coming to Rainbow Six Siege X, and it’s a lot of space for your storage, especially if you want to run the game on 4K. The game will take a minimum of around 60 GB on all hardware. That is, if you opt out of the 4K texture packs.
Brand New Audio 2.0

For a tactical shooter, audio is one of the most important parts of gameplay. As you actively listen to footsteps and abilities, Rainbow Six Siege X has announced an entirely new audio system for its game. With possible reverbs for bathrooms and hallways, plus better positional audio that will help you pre-fire your angles, Rainbow Six Siege X will probably be something like a CS2 release (hopefully not with its issues).
For players who mute everyone in the game, possibly due to toxic behavior in online gaming, they can now ping their teammates for different callouts. This system is now present in almost every online game. Hopefully, Rainbow Six Siege X’s wheel will be a bit more detailed, as its gameplay is really complex, or what community members would call “sweaty.”
Rank Changes and R6 ShieldGuard Anti-Cheat

A new pick-and-ban system has been implemented in ranked games. Says Ubisoft, to promote simultaneous decision-making. How this will turn out in actual ranked games is yet to be seen. But how it works is that you will be able to ban one attacking and one defending character each round. This totals six characters banned throughout one phase. All the while, operator picks are simultaneous, so no more waiting. After you switch sides, the bans will be refreshed, and the same process continues.
R6 ShieldGuard is an umbrella term given to Rainbow Six Siege X’s new anti-cheat. Ubisoft has mentioned that they have tripled the size of their anti-cheat team, and the result is the R6 ShieldGuard. However, this system also looks out for toxicity, possibly banning these players from accessing the rank for a period of time. Rainbow Six Siege has had its share of cheats throughout the years, which have even increased since last year.
This led to an eventual decline of the player base, but it is still healthy enough. Around 50,000 players on average still play the game, and possibly expect Ubisoft to bring out a better anti-cheat than the previous one.
Free-To-Play, Mostly

You will be able to play Rainbow Six Siege X later for free with certain limitations. You will have 10 free operators and unlock others through in-game progression. The only problem is that ranked will be locked out for you. You will have to purchase the premium version of the game to be able to play ranked and Siege Cup game modes. For casual players, this becomes a good platform to try out the game first and then possibly purchase if desirable.
The free-to-play will start from Season 2 of Year 10, which is June 10, 2025.
