Rematch has already crossed 3 million players within just two weeks of its official release. Many players have stuck true to the game mechanics and are playing the game the way it is intended to be. While others have already managed to find exploits to help run the game in their favor. With the latest patch fix, more balance has been brought to the game.

In this article, we will be looking at the Rematch patch hotfixes #9 – 1.20.009 and the changes that have come with them.

Exploits and Balancing in Rematch

With each passing day, players experiment and discover new, unique ways to play around with the existing mechanics in the game and use them to their advantage. One of these is the ‘Outfield dive’ move, which is a move to help counter incoming lob balls. Players, however, spam this move to run across the field, proving to be faster than sprinting and saving stamina. With the new tweaks, the character’s speed will reduce during the recovery time of the ability.

As per Sloclap, “The ability to spam the dive instead of sprinting is one mechanic that is a clear balancing issue. It allows players to bypass the limitations of stamina and sprint speeds, creating a negative impact on the game’s feel. We have adjusted the speed of the player during the recovery of the ability to make the dive spam less efficient as an acceleration exploit. This is a small enough adjustment but will have an impact on how the ability feels and functions even in legitimate circumstances, so we will be monitoring these effects closely.”

Another exploit that players managed to find was the ability to fly mid-game. Yes, you heard me right. Players could execute this by simply spamming the volley lob passes against any wall surface. Through this, they could avoid any interaction whatsoever with the opposition and adjust themselves to score more easily. Sloclap made a fix by making the ball interactable for an extra 5 frames later than before.

This will also have an effect on the ability to perform a self-assist volley shot on a very high ball. Players will find it a bit harder to execute some of the solo backboard setups. This will increase the reliance on teammates to pass the ball to them.

Sloclap believes this is a good thing for the game’s future as it does not remove the core mechanics. It simply improves the demand for the players’ focus and precision. In a game with many complex mechanics, the smallest changes can create a big impact on the game
