What’s New in Rimworld Odyssey DLC?
Map Features, Landmarks, and Biomes

The Odyssey DLC introduces several new biomes:
- Glowforest: A biome with permanent darkness where bioluminescent mushrooms and psychedelic spores glow. As normal plants can’t grow, you’ll need to rely on fungi for survival.
- Scarlands: A war-torn biome remnant of once-thriving cities, filled with heat, gas, and toxic rain.
- Grasslands: A biome with endless fields of golden, fertile land, where trees are rare. With strong winds, you can have a steady power supply for your turbines.
- Glacial plains: A frozen biome that resembles the prehistoric era, teeming with mastodons and scimitar cats.
- Lava Fields: A constantly changing biome filled with molten rock flow and volcanic lava. Build barriers and use face masks to protect yourself from debris and lava.
In addition to the new biomes, the new landmark system offers variations and dynamic changes across the landscapes. You can also take over abandoned colonies and restructure them into your base. Raiding ancient structures provides valuable components and resources.
Gravships and Space

Gravship is one of the notable additions of the expansion, introducing a new way to travel across the planet and explore space. Build your Gravship using the grav engine, thrusters, and chemfuel, and expand your flying mobile base, which includes bedrooms, labs, hospitals, and workshops. You can also upgrade your Gravship with gravcores, which can be found in locations like insect-infested caverns, ancient reactors rigged with traps, crash-landed space wrecks, and orbital platforms.
To protect themselves from space hazards such as no oxygen, extreme cold, and potential hull breaches, colonists must be equipped with vac suits, airtight walls, airlocks, and oxygen pumps on the base. With Gravship, Odyssey also introduces new ways to play, such as living the life of a nomad, kidnapping raiders, or building your own floating zoo.
Animals, Training, and Fishing

Odyssey also adds new, cute, terrifying, and intelligent wildlife that can be tamed, trained, traded, and eaten. The DLC introduces over 40 new animals, such as crows, swans, peacocks, flamingos, and quail that can spawn across distinct biomes. With the expansion, animals can learn new skills and tasks. This can benefit your colony in various ways, such as lifting colonists’ moods or hunting down targets.
You can also use the Sentience Catalyst to train previously untrainable animals—such as walruses—enabling them to learn new tasks. Species like the mastodon and the legendary alpha thrumbo can even perform special combat actions like rattling enemies or causing them to flee. You can also catch distinct fish such as tuna and salmon from different biomes and bodies of water.
Quests, the Mechhive Endgame, Drones, and More

In addition to the features mentioned above, Odyssey also introduces new quests and weapons. Track the alpha thrumbo or raid crypt bunkers to acquire valuable items. The DLC includes a wide variety of weapons such as sawed-off shotguns, AI-assisted rifle scopes, and golden revolvers, enhancing your combat options. Additionally, gain a tactical advantage in combat with new gadgets like hunter drones, wasp drones, ancient sentries, and more.
Hunt the machine hive mind by battling your way through relentless mechanoids. Upon reaching the core, players must choose to destroy or control it, affecting all mechanoid activity planetwide.
