In this guide, we’ll take a detailed look at how Ship Temperature in Rimworld Odyssey works and why you need to control it precisely.

Your Gravship temperature can impact several aspects in Rimworld Odyssey. For instance, how hot or cold the ship interiors are can determine whether your colonists will survive. If they are exposed to a vacuum, they’ll perish too. The same goes for all the food onboard the Gravship, which can spoil easily when the temperature drops or rises too much.
The game offers various ways of temperature control in your ship, which can keep your colonists happy and thriving. In this guide, we’ll take a look at how Ship Temperature in Rimworld Odyssey works and how you can manage it.
Understanding How Ship Temperature in Rimworld Odyssey Works

You will often need to fly your Gravship into the orbit, which means the interiors can become a vacuum atmosphere if there aren’t proper Gravship Hulls in place. Any space of the ship that’s in a vacuum will have extremely low temperatures and zero breathable air. If colonists are caught in a vacuum without protective gear, they’ll die almost immediately. So, make sure you prepare for any space flights beforehand by installing the hulls for your Gravship to protect the interiors from vacuum.
If you see fluctuations in temperatures inside a sealed room of your ship, you can also use heaters and coolers to rectify the problem. However, keep in mind that such equipment will draw power continuously as long as it functions. So, you need a power grid that can manage this constant supply of electricity, especially on freezing maps.
The idea is to have at least one heater present in the rooms of major colonists. In all common spaces, you’ll have to maintain a temperature between 18 degrees and 22 degrees Celsius. Temperatures lower than this range can cause hypothermia in your colonists, while higher temperatures can lead to debuffs. Opening and closing the door of a room repeatedly can also cause temperature fluctuations. You can avoid this by installing auto doors that open and close quickly to avoid temperature drop or rise. Installing a set of double doors can also prevent this issue.
Temperature Requirements for Specific Ship Areas
While the 18-22 degree Celsius range works fine in most spaces of your Gravship, there are other rooms where you need to maintain a different temperature range. For instance, Hydroponics should have a temperature between 10 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. So, place one heater inside each of these rooms and make sure they are sealed properly with Gravship Hull walls. On the other hand, in Medical Rooms, ensure that the temperature is 21 degrees Celsius. Place a heater here to foster faster recovery for colonists.
