Rimworld has always had a ton of resources you need to keep tabs on, and this list just got bigger with the game’s latest expansion, Rimworld Odyssey. Rimworld Odyssey adds in a ton more resources to the game, and the new Obsidian resource is a clear standout.

Obsidian in the game allows you to craft a variety of items, but where it really shines is in its sharp features. The rock has sharp edges, and this translates into utility in the form of sharp damage modifiers. Obsidian allows you to make the highest DPS craftable melee sharp weapons in the game, making it an absolute winner.

If you’re looking to dish out some sharp damage, this is the resource you need. If your search isn’t bearing results, we’re here to help with this guide. In this guide, we shall go over how to get Obsidian in Rimworld Odyssey.

You get Obsidian in Rimworld Odyssey by mining it from the volcanic areas in the game. As you go about exploring the various lava fields, you’ll find Obsidian Veins sprouting out of the ground. These Obsidian veins have Obsidian tiles, which you can mine to extract Obsidian

Approach these veins and mine them. They have only 1200 HP, so it’s fairly easy to do so.

An Obsidian vein can hold anywhere between 2 to 35 Obsidian tiles. The smaller veins can give you anywhere between 2 to 8 tiles, while the larger ones hold up to 35 tiles. We recommend targeting the ones with 35 tiles. Each tile, then, in turn, holds 32 Obsidian per block.

If the process of finding and mining the Obsidian is too taxing, you can also purchase the resource from vendors directly. This can be fairly expensive, however, so we only recommend buying the resource if you cannot afford to go out and find it.
