Rise of the Ronin is finally making its way to PC. After roughly a year of PS5 exclusivity, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are finally bringing their Japanese history-inspired title over to PC. Rise of the Ronin is an action RPG in the same vein as Team Ninja’s previous titles, albeit with some key differences. Unlike Team Ninja’s past games, i.e., Nioh, Nioh 2, and Wo Long, Rise of the Ronin isn’t a souls-like.

Instead, it’s an open-world action RPG with a focus on fast-paced combat and exploration. On top of that, the game also features a gripping narrative, something that hasn’t been a strong suit in Team Ninja’s games since the original Ninja Gaiden titles.

Following the PC version’s announcement, the game went live for pre-order on Steam. Furthermore, Koei Tecmo also revealed a ton of additional information on the PC version, including system requirements, file size, etc. Here’s everything you need to know about Rise of the Ronin’s PC version, its system requirements, and more.

Rise of the Ronin PC System Requirements

Similarly to previous Team Ninja games on PC, Rise of the Ronin uses the studio’s proprietary engine. However, there are a plethora of improvements made to the engine to better reflect its “current-gen” nature. For those unaware, Rise of the Ronin was not released on PlayStation 4. Instead, it was built exclusively for the PS5 hardware.

As such, the game comes packed with current-gen features such as ray tracing, 8K resolution support, DirectX 12 Ultimate compatibility, and more. Additionally, the game also features support for 3D Audio, akin to the PS5 version. The game also comes with support for up to 120fps, as well as ultra-wide and super ultra-wide resolutions.

Despite the game’s current-gen nature, its system specifications aren’t too high. For instance, the minimum GPU requirement for Team Ninja’s latest title is a GTX 1060. This also hints at the game being very scalable, similar to the Nioh titles. That said, here are the minimum and recommended system requirements for Rise of the Ronin:

Minimum (1080p/30fps at Low preset)

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

According to the official specifications, Rise of the Ronin on PC requires roughly 180 GB of storage space. Furthermore, Team Ninja highly recommends installing the game on an SSD. Although the game will work on an HDD, due to its open-world nature, it might exhibit some texture-related issues due to slower storage bandwidth. Surprisingly enough, the PC file size of Rise of the Ronin is roughly double that of the PS5 version.

For reference, the PS5 version takes up roughly 98 GB on the console’s SSD. The bigger file size on PC is likely due to the high-resolution textures, as well as 8K cinematics. It should be noted that the PS5 version did not ship with 8K resolution support.
