Getting the Gem of the Forest in 99 Nights in the Forest is one of the most important steps for late-game progression. This rare item is required to upgrade your crafting station to Level 5 and unlock some of the most powerful tools in the game.

Since it cannot be found like regular resources, you need to collect fragments and combine them to create the gem.

Gem of the Forest in 99 Nights in the Forest

The Gem of the Forest is not a standard item you can gather like wood or food. To obtain it, you must collect Gem of the Forest Fragments and combine them into a single gem. Four fragments are required to create one complete Gem of the Forest.

Where To Find Gem of the Forest Fragments

You can get fragments in two ways: by defeating high-level Cultists or by raiding a Cultist Stronghold.

Cultist Drops
Fragments only drop from Cultists that spawn after Day 90. Early-game Cultists, such as the ones appearing on Day 4, will not drop them. Surviving until late-game is essential if you want a reliable chance to collect these fragments.
Cultist Stronghold Raids
Another way to acquire fragments is by clearing a Cultist Stronghold. Look for a diamond icon with an exclamation mark on your map to locate one. Once inside, you must clear all three levels of the Stronghold. After defeating the Cultists on the final floor, you can loot the prize room, where a Gem of the Forest Fragment is often found.
Strongholds are difficult to clear solo, so it is recommended to form a team of two or three players and bring medium or long-range weapons to deal with the enemies effectively.

How To Combine the Fragments

Once you have four fragments, place them on top of each other in your inventory. They will automatically merge into a complete Gem of the Forest. There is no need to use the crafting station or any special tool to combine them.

Uses of the Gem of the Forest

The Gem of the Forest is mainly used to upgrade your crafting station to Level 5. This upgrade unlocks late-game recipes and allows you to craft powerful utility items that can help you survive longer and control the environment.

Respawn Capsule
Materials Needed: 40 Scraps, 40 Wood Logs, 1 Gem of the Forest
Effect: Revives the next dead player inside the capsule, allowing you to continue the game without losing progress.
Temporal Accelerometer
Materials Needed: 40 Scraps, 40 Wood Logs, 1 Gem of the Forest
Effect: Allows you to skip the next night in the game entirely after charging.
Weather Machine
Materials Needed: 40 Scraps, 40 Wood Logs, 1 Gem of the Forest
Effect: Protects you from rain and thunderstorms for the next three days once charged.
