The Roblox community was left stunned on May 28, 2025, after the popular survival game Forsaken was reportedly sold by the owners, Soul and Ava. Famous Roblox YouTuber KreekCraft shared some advice with the developers of the popular game and asked them to lawyer up in a post on X. He also made a video about the entire controversy, warning young Roblox developers about the legal challenges they can face when ownership changes hands.

This article will go through the entire Forsaken sale controversy and what allegedly happened, according to the developers.

Exploring the Forsaken Sale Controversy

For those out of the loop, one of the initial owners of the game, Soul, was mired in controversy earlier this month. Following this, on May 27, developer Hytoko announced in a post on Discord that ownership of the game had been transferred to two developers: Hytoko and Basil.

In the Discord post, Hytoko wrote:

“Following recent things, and agreements within the team, ownership of Forsaken has been transferred to myself, @Hytoko (Second LVL 100 John Doe), and @Basil (@cowoika). This transfer of ownership will not affect the game or upcoming content for it.

This hasn’t been done lightly either. To be completely honest and more casual I’m a bit terrified, and I think Basil is too. We want only what is best for Forsaken, the community, and the team surrounding it.

Not everything related to the transfer has been completed yet. There are still things that are actively being transferred to us as this announcement goes out. But I believe it’s better for everybody if this announcement reaches the public as soon as possible.”

However, initial owners Ava and Soul allegedly sold the game to a third party named Pariet. What’s more, the developers supposedly did not know about the sale. Hytoko took to X to complain about the situation. The developer mentioned that they would retain control of Forsaken and that the new owner is not hands-on:

“Soul sold the game instead of finishing things… THANKFULLY! We still have full control as we’ve been told by the person. They have no intentions of being hands on or anything. They want us to continue the game as we’ve been. I’m beyond wordless right now”

In the same thread, the developer wrote that they were “furious.” But Hytoko reassured fans that they would retain control of Forsaken despite the sale:

“we’re getting things figured out right now. I’m so furious and just…gobsmacked. Basil and I are still owners. We are going to continue having control over the game”

“You Need Lawyers Involved Yesterday”: KreekCraft Warns Forsaken Developers About the Controversial Sale

Popular Roblox YouTuber KreekCraft has weighed in on the Forsaken controversy. The content creator uploaded a video on YouTube where he talked about the situation. KreekCraft warned developers at large about the legal issues they can face during ownership changes. He even replied to the developer Hytoko on X and asked them to lawyer up.

At the 7:30 mark of the video, KreekCraft read out the X post that warned the developers of the game. The YouTuber stated that Forsaken is a million-dollar-plus IP and that the predominantly young development team needs to get legal representation to protect their interests. He said:

“Here’s the deal. Apologies if not, but I’m going to assume most of the dev team is young here. The reality is this is a million dollar plus IP you have on Roblox with Forsaken. Considering the situation, you need lawyers involved yesterday. You can’t just transfer ownership of something like this without proper paperwork and legal documents or you’re asking for trouble.”

KreekCraft continued:

“There’s really too much to say in just one tweet, but the reality here is you’re now running a game studio. You now have a business. There’s large amounts of money involved. And the previous owner allegedly committed crimes. You need legal reps on this asap. Unless proper legal docs were signed, Soul could and probably has full rights to do whatever they want. Until pen is put to paper you likely own nothing.”

He also offered to help the developers of Forsaken and claimed that situations like this keep happening in Roblox:

“I’m more than happy to hop on a call and guide where possible. Not trying to scare anyone either; it’s just this situation happens on Roblox all the time because most developers are young and don’t fully understand the situations they can find themselves in.”
