But progress requires strategy. You’ll need to gather Tranquil fruits, trade them for Zen, and level up the tree step by step. This guide breaks down the process clearly, so you can focus on what matters: collecting, trading, and upgrading efficiently.
Zen Tree in Grow a Garden Roblox
To grow the Zen Tree in Grow a Garden, you first need to collect a new event currency called Zen. You get Zen by trading Tranquil mutation fruits with the monk NPC named Unk. The tree sits at the center of the Zen Event hub and levels up each time you submit enough Zen. Every level unlocks a new item in the Zen Shop, and the process continues until level 7, which is the max.
Start by obtaining Tranquil mutation fruits. You can get them through three main sources:
- The Zen Aura event
- The Tanchozuru event
- Tranquil mutation pets on your plot
Once you have a Tranquil fruit in your hand, walk up to the monk and press the E key to open the dialogue. Then, choose the option “Take all my Tranquil plants.” The monk only accepts Tranquil mutations, so make sure you’re holding the right type.
Zen is awarded based on the tier of the Tranquil fruit you trade. Here’s the full breakdown:

How To Upgrade the Zen Tree
Here are the Zen Tree upgrade requirements and their corresponding rewards:
- Level 1 (40 Zen): Zenflare Seed
- Level 2 (60 Zen): Zen Crate
- Level 3 (90 Zen): Soft Sunshine Seed
- Level 4 (130 Zen): Koi Pet
- Level 5 (180 Zen): Zen Gnome Crate
- Level 6 (245 Zen): Spiked Mango
- Level 7 (325 Zen): Pet Shard Tranquil
Upgrading the Zen Tree is essential if you want access to the best items from this event. The Pet Shard Tranquil is especially important since it allows you to mutate pets into Tranquil types, increasing your ability to grow Tranquil fruits and loop the system for more Zen and Chi.
