The Halloween Spotlight event of 2025 has brought a bunch of different challenges in each participating experience. Grabbing the Key and Rune from each of these games will enable players to claim new and exclusive cosmetic items. So, you’ll want to complete the challenges in as many games as you can before the event period concludes. In Dead Rails, like in all other participating Roblox games, you will have to complete the following:
- Rune Challenge: This is a simple challenge that you have to finish to claim the Rune.
- Key Challenge: This is a more advanced task that you’ll need to complete if you want to get your hands on the Key.
Now, let’s understand exactly what these challenges are, and how you can complete them.
How To Earn Rune in Dead Rails
The task you need to complete to earn the Rune token in the game is to simply play in Normal Mode, and while doing so, collect the 5 Jack O’ Lanterns. This is a really simple task to complete. After picking the Normal Mode, simply go ahead and ride the train as far as it’ll go. Then, disembark from the train and begin searching all of the rooms or houses in the area. You will find the Jack O’ Lanterns in random rooms. Be patient though, since you might have to explore several of the rooms before you can acquire all five of these. When you’ve collected all five of these, the Rune token will unlock for you.
How To Earn Key in Dead Rails
To get the Key, you need to complete the limited-period Halloween mode in the game, dubbed Edison’s Revenge. In this particular game mode, you will need to traverse through four biomes, namely, the Ghost, Blood, Alien, and a last unnamed biome that is a mix of all the other biomes. Finally, when you reach Outlaw’s Town, you will have to faceoff against a wide range of enemies, including Nikola Tesla, Edison, Runner Zombies, and Soldiers. You will have to clear the battlefield in just two minutes, instead of the usual four, making things trickier. However, if you manage to do to, you’ll claim the Key token in the game.
When you have both Key and Rune from Dead Rails, you’ll get the Lantern Lantern Avatar reward.
