Learn how to complete the Restaurant Tycoon 3 Halloween Spotlight Rune and Key quests to unlock rare furniture and rewards
Restaurant Tycoon 3 is one of the featured games in the Halloween Spotlight event, and just like Driving Empire, you can complete its quests in no time. To unlock Rune and Key, you need to complete your daily challenges. As you complete these challenges, you get coupons, which you can use to unlock Halloween-themed dishes and decorations for your restaurant.
In this guide, we will tell you how to complete the quests and collect the Rune and Key fast.
Halloween Spotlight Restaurant Tycoon 3 Rune Guide
To unlock the Rune, you need to complete three daily challenges from the Halloween Event menu. You can open the event menu by clicking the pumpkin icon on the left of your screen while inside your restaurant.
Daily challenges reset at 12:00 AM UTC and include:
- Serve Halloween dishes like Eyeball Spaghetti or Pumpkin Soup (unlocked using coupons).
- Build Halloween candles, webs, and decorations from the Build Menu.
- Find hidden collectibles such as pumpkins, ghosts, or skulls scattered around the map.
Once you have completed three challenges, you will automatically earn the Spotlight Rune badge.

Restaurant Tycoon 3 Key Guide
Once you have completed 3 challenges and unlocked the Rune, you can continue doing the remaining 2 quests, as progress for both Rune and Key is shared, so finishing five challenges will grant both badges.
Some of the easiest challenges include:
- Score 300+ points on the BitBlast arcade machine: You can find this machine at EKEA; it costs 10 coupons if you want to buy it, but for the quest you can play on it for free. The minigame is like Candy Crush, so it’s easy to score 300+.
- Send trick-or-treat gifts to other players: You can visit other players’ tycoons to gift them items you have made in your restaurant.
- Collect mushrooms/pumpkins: You can collect mushrooms near the campsite and pumpkins throughout the island.
Once you have completed the remaining 2 challenges, you will unlock the Key badge, which you can use to unlock limited-time UGC from the Spotlight Hub.

- Join through the Spotlight hub to make sure event tracking works properly.
- Start with easy challenges first, like building items or scoring arcade points.
- Use the Teleports menu to travel quickly between EKEA, the Farm, and your Tycoon.
- Spend coupons to unlock Halloween dishes like candy corn, pumpkin pie, etc.
- Log in daily, since challenges reset every midnight (UTC).
