Unlock secrets in The Butchery with the Centipede Key. Discover how to find the Centipede Key and progress in Part 3 with our guide.
The Butchery is a horror adventure game on Roblox. The popular game has over 70 million visits and was inspired by Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Part 3 of the game went live on 8 June, 2025, with the devs adding a whole new basement level where you have to complete tasks and evade the Horse.
A key item you have to find to unlock two doors is the Centipede Key. You need the key to open two doors, one of which is essential to progressing to the next section of The Butchery. In this article, we will explain how to obtain the Centipede and progress in Part 3.
The Butchery Part 3 Guide: Obtaining the Centipede Key
You will encounter two doors with a centipede sigil soon after starting Part 3 of The Butchery. After you exit the workshop area in Part 2, you will be in a hallway where you will find the first door. Enter the first room on the left, and the Survivor NPC will explain that he is in the basement. The second centipede door is in this room. But you will need the key to open both doors.
The Butchery Part 3 Basement Layout
To find the centipede key, you have to descend the hallway into the basement. Go back and pick up the torch from the room if you haven’t already. The first room in the basement is the red room, where a cow monster is on the table. The Centipede Key is in its stomach. To get it, you will have to turn on the chainsaw hanging above the cow monster’s head. To make the electrical connection, you need to explore more of the basement. Here is a list of all of the rooms and what you need from them:
- Red Room: The centipede key is in the cow on the table. Find a way to turn on the chainsaw to get it.
- Cold Room: This room features a chained refrigerator. Cut the chains with bolt cutters to get a Living Heart.
- Workshop Room: You can find the bolt cutters to open the fridge here. There is also a locker with missing handles that has a car battery. Find a way to open the locker to use it.
- Bathroom: There is a dead cow monster in a bathtub. Put the living heart inside, and then kill it to obtain the handle that opens the locker in the workshop.
Getting the Centipede Key: Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Follow these steps to unlock the Centipede Key in The Butchery:
- Enter the basement and make your way through the first three rooms: Red Room, Cold Room, and Bathroom.
- The Survivor NPC will appear in the hallway and inform you about the key to the garden. The Horse monster will appear in the cutscene and eat the Survivor’s head, and then start chasing you.
- You can evade the horse by breaking LOS or just going back upstairs. However, you have to come down to the basement to progress.
- Find a way inside the Workshop Room while evading the Horse and obtain Bolt Cutters.
- Go back to the Cold Room and cut the chains on the refrigerator. Open it and take the green living heart.
- Now find the cow in the bathtub inside the Bathroom. Give it the living heart, and it will wake up and start attacking.
- Kill it and find a handle in the bathtub.
- Take the handle back to the Workshop and use the Handle to open the locker. Obtain the Car Battery from inside.
- Now, retrace your steps back to the Red Room. Place the Car Battery to complete the connection, and the chainsaw will activate.
- After the chainsaw has cut into the cow, you can take the Centipede Key as shown in the photo above.
