Caldera Island is the latest location added in Prospecting with the Volcanic Update. Released on July 26, 2025, the island has two separate deposits that yield the best minerals in the game. However, unlike the previous areas that were contiguous to the spawn area, Caldera Island is far away from the mainland. To get there, you have to complete the Lighthouse Quest.

In this article, we will explain everything you need to do to complete the Lighthouse Quest and unlock Caldera Island in the Volcanic Update.

Prospecting Volcanic Update: Lighthouse Quest Guide

All Prospecting players looking to access the new additions in the Volcanic Update must talk to the Ferryman NPC in the Fortune River area. However, the Ferryman will tell you to fix the Lighthouse first before he can take you to Caldera Island with the new Volcano.

Restoring the Lighthouse Quest

Here is a detailed step-by-step process of how to complete the quest titled ‘Restoring the Lighthouse’:

Go to the Sunset Beach area and locate the lighthouse.
Climb to the very top and interact with the Lightkeeper NPC.
She will give you the Restoring the Lighthouse Quest.
You have to bring a Liminium mineral to complete the quest.

How To Get Liminium

Liminium is a legendary-tier mineral in Prospecting. Naturally, it is quite rare to find. It can only be found in these locations:

Sunset Beach
Crystal Cavern River
Azuralite Oasis

This means the lowest toughness shovel you need to get Liminium is 3. However, in practice, you will need some very high luck to find the legendary ore. Follow these steps to increase your chances:

Wait for events such as Meteor Showers that increase luck
Use Codes that increase your luck
Try to find luck tokens placed down by others
Try upgrading your Pan and get a good enchantment

Traveling to the Volcanic Caldera Island in Prospecting

Once you have found the Liminium, take it back to the Lightkeeper NPC at the top of the Lighthouse in Sunset Beach. She will give you $3 million and 200 Meteor Shards as a reward for completing the quest. Now you can access Caldera Island. To get there:

Locate the Ferryman NPC in Fortune River
He will be on the pier next to a boat, as shown above
If you interact with him after completing the Restoring the Lighthouse Quest, he will take you to the new Caldera Island

The first region on the island is called the Volcano Outskirts, where you can obtain the Fire Opal. This is another legendary mineral. You will need one to get past the Flame Priest NPC and get inside the Volcano to access the new gear.
