People are already familiar with the 2017 viral game Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. Roblox recreated this game on its servers. One of the games based on it was Getting Over It. The game was developed by @yaseenrahmanking and was first released in 2023. In April 2025, it had a new update, and players have been hopping on to the game once again.

Like the original, it’s a challenging, single-player climbing game where you control a character using a hammer to scale a steep, obstacle-filled mountain. If you’d like to play the game, here’s a guide for you.

Getting Over It: How To Play

The game begins with you at the bottom level. You can check your progress with the bar situated on the right-hand side of the screen. The objective is simple – You control a character (often a block or avatar) wielding a hammer (e.g., a sledgehammer or pickaxe) to climb a steep mountain filled with obstacles. The goal is to reach the top without falling, which can reset your progress.

Like the original game, the Roblox version is quite challenging since a single mistake can send you down the slope and strip you of your progress.

How To Climb

The climbing mechanic is quite similar to the original game. Use your mouse (on PC) or finger (on mobile) to move the hammer in a circular motion. The hammer’s height depends on the speed of your movement, and the direction follows your cursor or finger.

To climb, swing the hammer to latch onto objects (e.g., rocks, ledges) and pull your character upward.

Key Obstacles

The Roblox version of Getting Over It has mimicked many of the original levels in the game. Here are a few examples:

  • Devil’s Chimney: A tight vertical section early in the game. Position your character carefully, latch onto the left wall, and make small, precise swings to climb.
  • Orange Hell/Devil’s Orange: A narrow, slippery section. Move slowly and avoid overcommitting to swings.
  • Ice Mountain: Surfaces are slippery, so use hammer momentum cautiously.

Hammer Skins

The game also has a dedicated shop. You can locate this on the left side of your screen labeled “Shop” (Press “M”). Here you can purchase various Hammer skins. To purchase new skins, you need Wins (in-game currency).
