The repairing process has several phases that you need to complete. Let’s take a look at these:
Locating a Generator
The first order of business is to find the generator itself. Usually, you’ll run into generators in alleyways, buildings, or open areas. Approach the generator and then press the interact button (E on PC) to start the process.
Completing the Skill Check
Next, there’s a skill check that you have to master. As soon as you interact with a generator, a circular gauge with a red needle appears. The goal here is to stop the needle while it’s in the white rectangular portion of the gauge. Two things can happen based on whether you succeed in your attempt or not.
- If you’re successful, the repair process continues without a hitch.
- If you fail to stop the needle in the white bar, the generator will explode. The loud noise will draw the attention of the Killer and hamper your progression.
Keep in mind that you’re constantly at danger, even during the repair process. The Killer can easily sneak up on you if you aren’t careful during these generator repair instances. Always keep track of audio cues or background music changes, both of which are signs of the Killer being nearby. When these things happen, immediately stop your repairing attempt and find a place to hide.
Once the Killer moves away, continue the skill checks. You’ll have to succeed multiple such checks to finally power on the generator.

- Focus on timing: Make sure you prioritize a regular success multiple times rather than looking for the perfect input during skill checks.
- Ask a friend for help: Repairing with another player makes the process significantly faster. However, it also increases the odds of both players failing.
- Avoid panicking: If you panic during the skill check, you’re more likely to mistime the key input. Keep calm and use the audio cues from the generator itself to guide yourself and ensure perfect timing.
