The Grow a Garden developers have added a new limited-time event in the game called the Brains.. event. It was added during the Pet Mutations Update (July 12, 2025). This event brings a brand-new mutation to your crops. This article will provide a comprehensive guide on what it is and how you can get it.
Grow a Garden Brains Event Update
During the Brains.. event, a massive NPC named Jandel summons a horde of zombies onto the island, creating a distinctive atmosphere where the sky turns dark green and dirt holes appear near gardens, indicating where zombies emerge. The zombies will charge toward your crop and start mutating it. Unfortunately, you cannot manually trigger this event. The developers trigger it randomly.

What Mutation Does the Brains Event Bring?
The Brains.. event in Grow a Garden introduces the Infected mutation to crops. This mutation gives crops a green tint and an electrifying green aura, increasing their sale value. It is tied to a limited-time mutation, so if you want to have it, try to obtain it before the Brains.. event ends.
What Does the Infected Mutation Do?
The Infected mutation increases the crop value by 75x. For example, if the base selling price of a plant is 100K Sheckles, it will go for 750K. This makes it one of the most profitable mutations to have.
This is a stackable mutation, meaning if your crop is Infected, it can also have other mutations. This significantly increases the crop value.
Is the Infected Most Valuable Mutation?
While the Infected mutation brings a 75x multiplier to your crops, it is not the most valuable mutation in Grow a Garden. Mutations like Voidtouched and Disco bring higher multipliers. Here is a list of mutations with high multipliers:
Shocked | 100x |
Celestial | 120x |
Disco | 125x |
Voidtouched | 135x |
Meteoric | 125x |
Dawnbound | 150x |
Galactic | 120x |
Alienlike | 100x |
