The Asus ROG Ally 2 has surfaced across multiple international certification platforms, including the FCC in the U.S., Korea’s RRA, and Indonesia’s SDPPI, signaling an imminent global release. The device will launch in two model variants: RC73XA (Black) and RC73YA (White), each offering unique hardware configurations and potential OS differences.

Leaks from reliable sources such as @94G8LA and industry insider @Ruby_Rapids have further fueled the growing excitement. With Asus traditionally using Computex as a platform for major gaming announcements, the ROG Ally 2 is likely to be officially unveiled during Computex 2025.

ROG Ally 2 Design and Display Highlights

The ROG Ally 2 is expected to launch in two color variants: Black and Gardenia White. However, the color choice appears to be about more than just design. There are significant differences that go beyond aesthetics. Upon closer inspection of the leaked images, it’s clear that only the black version has a dedicated Xbox button. The White version might lack the Xbox button or, at the very least, doesn’t clearly mark it as such.

Regarding port availability, the Black version includes most of the standard options, such as a dedicated headphone jack, a TF card port, and two USB-C ports. The dual USB-C port setup might be a prototype feature and may not appear in the production model.

Asus has opted for larger, more defined grips for improved ergonomics during extended gaming sessions. In terms of display, the ROG Ally 2 retains its predecessor’s seven-inch screen but with thicker bezels, particularly at the top and bottom. Again, this could be a prototype feature.

Xbox Button and OS Speculation

As evident from the leaked images, only the Black version may feature the Xbox button, suggesting possible deeper Xbox integration in that model. This also raises the possibility of a handheld Xbox-themed OS, diverging from the original Ally’s operating system. However, this remains speculative until official confirmation from Asus or Microsoft.

Conversely, the Gardenia White version is likely to feature a traditional Windows-based operating system. Overall, the distinct design of the Black model supports earlier rumors and speculation about a potential Asus-Microsoft collaboration.

The White variant of the ROG Ally 2 offers a lower-end setup, powered by the AMD Aeirth Plus chip, a 4-core processor positioned below the Z2 Extreme. Although memory specifications for the White model have not been disclosed, both models support 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options.

A MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E module provides wireless connectivity, as confirmed by the FCC listing. Charging capabilities differ between the models: the White variant supports up to 65W charging, while the Black version reaches up to 100W.

Launch Timeline and Global Certifications

The ROG Ally 2 has appeared under two model names, RC73XA and RC73YA, across several certification platforms. This rapid wave of certifications indicates that an official reveal is on the horizon. Given Asus’ history of announcing major gaming hardware at Computex, it’s highly likely the ROG Ally 2 will debut at Computex 2025.
