In Runescape Dragonwilds, you’ll have to constantly upgrade your gear and weaponry to take on tougher opponents. If you’re a melee-focused character, your primary motive should be to increase your damage output as much as possible. This will enable you to end fights quicker when you’re at close range and prevent you from taking too much damage.

While you can craft better weapons by following recipes, there are other ways to increase weapon damage. One of these is crafting and using whetstones. In this guide, we explore how you can make Whetstones in Runescape Dragonwilds and how to use them.

You don’t just find the crafting recipe for a Whetstone out in the world or while completing specific quests. Instead, the recipe unlocks when you reach Level 40 in the Attack Path of your skill tree. Once you reach this level, you’ll be able to make a Whetstone at the Crafting Table. You’ll need the following materials to make the Whetstone.

  • Granite: 5x
  • Stone: 10x

You can gather both of these materials in the world by simply mining them. Once you have the required amount, go to the Crafting Table and then place the required amounts of Granite and Stone in it to make 1x Whetstone.

After crafting the Whetstone, it’ll show up in your inventory. You can apply it to any of your melee weapons to get a temporary boost in its damage. Keep in mind that it is a consumable item, which means you’ll use up 1x Whetstone every time you use one on a weapon. Also, you need to keep reapplying Whetstones if you want to continue the damage output even after the effects from one of these items wear off.

We suggest using Whetstones on your melee weapon when taking on Bosses or an especially tough enemy. While the increase in damage isn’t too much, it might be just enough to help you clear off that particularly tough group of enemies.
