The Wise Old Man sends you off to scout and hunt deer in RuneScape Dragonwilds’s Dragon Slayer main story quest.

RuneScape Dragonwilds’ Ashenfall is a land full of possibilities. The game starts off by throwing you into this vast continent with the goal of survival. It then teaches you the basics of staying alive through its many quests. One such quest comes from the Wise Old Man, who teaches you the ways of the land.
After teaching you how to build your base of operations, the Wise Old Man then presents you with the task of bringing in antlers. To do so, you have to hunt deer, and this task is just about as difficult as you’d expect it to be. The deer are hyper-aware of their surroundings and will bolt at the slightest ruffling of leaves. Since this is one of the main story quests in the game, you cannot skip it and must complete it if you wish to progress to the cooler Golgin Castle raid later on.
If you’re struggling to hunt deer at the behest of the Wise Old Man in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, we’ll go over how to hunt a deer in RuneScape Dragonwilds.

How To Hunt a Deer in RuneScape Dragonwilds

You’re tasked with hunting deer first in the Dragon Slayer main story quest of the game. You may be tempted to rush at one with a melee weapon, but you will quickly be humbled as the animal leaves you in the dust. To hunt a deer in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you have to play it smart and stealthily, and approach the nimble animal from a distance. A ranged weapon is your best bet to take down the animal, and the Ash Shortbow is the easiest one to get.
You get the Ash Shortbow by using 3x Coarse Thread and 12x Logs at the Crafting Table. The Coarse Thread is necessary for the bowstring, while the Logs are used for intricately designing the bow’s wooden frame. Craft ammo for the bow using 1x Stone, 1x Ash Log, and 1x Feather.

Once you’ve crafted this item, head over to Bramblemead Valley to find some deer. Make sure to stay crouched at all times, as the deer will spot you if you’re not careful. We recommend taking the higher ground atop a rock or cliff and aiming at the deer below. If you scare the deer off, return to the area at a later time and they will have respawned. Use your bow and take aim for the head to kill the deer in one swift blow. Take the antlers and return to the Wise Old Man to proceed with the quest.
