Computex is here, and AMD’s mid-range answer to NVIDIA is compelling for gamers. At least budget gamers will get something good out of Computex 2025. That said, the 9060 XT looks good on paper, especially with a price tag of around $349 MSRP and 16GB of RAM. An 8GB model is also available for $299, but much like the RTX 5060, it will share the same critique. Below are the company’s early specs and performance claims.

The RX 9060 XT is built on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture using the new Navi 44 silicon, manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process. Key specifications include:

  • 32 compute units (2,048 stream processors)
  • 32 third-generation ray tracing accelerators
  • 64 AI accelerators (delivering up to 821 TOPS)
  • Boost clock up to 3.13 GHz
  • Available in 8GB and 16GB GDDR6 memory configurations
  • 128-bit memory interface
  • PCIe 5.0 x16 interface
  • DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b outputs
  • Power consumption: 150W (8GB model) to 182W (16GB model)
  • Single 8-pin power connector

Pricing and Availability

AMD has positioned the RX 9060 XT competitively against NVIDIA’s offerings:

  • RX 9060 XT 8GB: $299
  • RX 9060 XT 16GB: $349

Both models will be available starting June 5, 2025, with custom designs from partners including ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX.

Early Benchmarks

According to AMD’s internal benchmarks, the RX 9060 XT 16GB outperforms NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti 8GB by approximately 6% on average across 40 game titles at 1440p resolution with ultra settings. When queried about the performance comparison in terms of the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, AMD responded that the same 6% better performance remains.

On the bright side, the card supports AMD’s latest technologies, including FSR 4 and the upcoming Project Redstone features, which include AMD’s own take on ray reconstruction, neural radiance caching, and improved frame generation capabilities.

Conclusion – A 9070 XT Cut in Half?

As early claims suggest, the RX 9060 XT is a 9070 XT cut in half that delivers half the performance, likely due to having half the compute units of the 9070 XT. This kind of performance makes it suitable for:

  • Maxed-out 1080p gaming with ray tracing enabled
  • Solid 1440p gaming performance
  • Support for newer technologies like FSR 4

We now have to wait for third-party reviews, which will be available at launch on June 5. The competition with NVIDIA at this price point is highly competitive. If the real-world pricing translates correctly, it could be a landslide victory.
