On the occasion of Rare Ltd.’s 40th anniversary, the studio proposed a variety of new elements in Sea of Thieves. The event is called Sea of Thieves Season 17 Community Weekend, and it will commence on August 30, 2025. During this event, players can acquire loads of items through various methods.

Sea of Thieves Season 17 Community Weekend

The event will start on August 30, 2025, and last until September 1, 2025. Within these 48 hours, you can get different rewards by different means. Here’s a complete overview of the event:

Log-in Bonus

If any player logs in to the game during this weekend, they will receive the following rewards:

  • Rare-themed Paper Cutout Emote
  • A White, Red, and Gold Community Weekend Flag.

Aside from the login bonus, if the players collectively complete 100,000 events during the event, then every player will receive the Ruby Legend Figurehead.

Twitch Drop and Other Rewards

During this weekend, you can get a lot of drops via Twitch streams. Just head to any Twitch partner channel, and start watching to get these rewards:

  • Eastern Winds Ruby Pistol and Cutlass
  • Gilded Phoenix Pocket Watch
  • Mandrake Sails
  • Voyage of Luck
  • A Legendary Search for Cursed Treasure Voyage
  • Bonus Renown
  • 75,000 Gold

Alongside the drops, you can raise the Emissary Grade just by watching Sea of Thieves Twitch streams. As the grade increases, other elements like gold, reputation, seasonal renown, guild reputation, and allegiance will also get a boost. Note that this multiplier will only affect the High Seas sailors. Additionally, if 100,000 world events are completed during the weekend, players will get the Obsidian Captain’s Table and Logbook as Twitch drops.

Pop-Up Plunder

This is one of the most popular features of Sea of Thieves, and during this weekend, the starting location of Pop-Up Plunder will be published by the developers. There will be hints posted on Sea of Thieves social media accounts regarding this event. This way players will be able to strategize their thoughts beforehand.

Picture Walls and Community Rewards

Many outposts will feature picture walls where players can capture the best moments of the event. Additionally, players will be able to acquire a free Community Spirit Firework Crate from the local Merchant Alliance. Players can even share their captured moments on social media with the hashtag #BeMorePirate. The best submissions will be awarded with the Hat of Unfeasibly Glorious Fame.
