Discover five shinies Worth hunting in Pokemon GO Growing Up event, each with unique value and advantages.

The Growing Up event runs from May 2, 10:00 a.m., to May 7, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. With several boosted Shiny chances and bonuses for evolving and hatching, your focus can make a difference. If you are unsure where to start, these five Shinies are Worth hunting in the Pokemon GO Growing Up event.
1. Shiny Wimpod

Wimpod doesn’t show up often outside of events, especially in its Shiny form. During Growing Up, your odds of hatching and encountering it in the wild are boosted. This dual availability gives you more ways to secure one.
Shiny Wimpod has subtle colour changes, but its evolution, Golisopod, becomes a metallic force with an entirely different look. If you enjoy collecting rare Shinies that aren’t commonly seen in Gyms or raids, this one stands out. Consider stacking up 2 km Eggs if you are aiming for this through hatching.
2. Shiny Magikarp

Magikarp may seem like an old classic, but don’t overlook it. You get 2× XP for evolving Pokemon during the event, and Magikarp evolves into Gyarados at the cost of 400 Candy. That means lots of XP in one go if you have stockpiled Magikarp.
On top of that, its Shiny form has been a community favourite for years. The golden colour is easy to spot, and Gyarados turns a deep red after evolution. With Magikarp spawning more frequently, it’s a good time to farm Candy and XP while targeting the Shiny.
3. Shiny Swablu

Swablu evolves into Altaria, a reliable pick for Great League in GO Battle League if you are into PvP. Though it takes 400 Candy to evolve, the increased chance of XXS and XXL Pokemon gives Swablu extra collection value this week. You could end up with a Shiny that also fills a size record slot.
Its golden Shiny palette is one of the more noticeable ones in the event. And with Swablu spawning more in the wild and featuring in Field Research, your shot at catching a Shiny improves across multiple paths.
4. Shiny Riolu

Riolu is one of the more desirable Egg hatches, especially from the 2 km Eggs this time. Not only is it rare to find, but its Shiny version is electric blue.
Once evolved into Lucario, it becomes useful across various modes—raids, battles, and showcases. Lucario’s typing and moveset keep it relevant. During Growing Up, getting a Shiny Riolu from Eggs is a bit more doable than usual. If you are planning to hatch, keeping space in your storage and using incubators efficiently could make the difference.
5. Shiny Mime Jr.

Mime Jr. usually hatches only in specific regions, making it difficult to find elsewhere. This event temporarily opens access via 5 km Eggs, giving all Trainers a chance to pursue it.
Its Shiny version keeps the character’s whimsical design but adds rarity. Since it doesn’t spawn in the wild and isn’t in Field Research, your only shot lies in hatching. If you value exclusivity in your collection, this is the one to watch.
Instead of spreading your effort across all event Pokemon, it helps to be selective. Focus on the ones that offer either strong gameplay use, collection rarity, or both.
