Pokemon GO is celebrating the Holiday season with the ongoing event Holiday Part 1. The event began on December 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM and will run till December 22, 2024, at 9:59 AM local time. During the event, trainers can purchase the event-exclusive Premium Timed Research from the in-game shop for $2 or equivalent currency.
The Premium Timed Research, Shore Thing, is a two-parter that must be completed before December 27, 2024, at 8:00 PM local time. The ticket can also be gifted to Great Friends or higher.

Is The Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 Paid Timed Research Worth Buying?
The event-exclusive Premium Timed Research has the following rewards:
- 2 Premium Battle Passes
- 1 Incubator
- 1,500 Stardust
- Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
The bonuses for the Holiday Part 1 event include half hatch distance, so the Incubator can be helpful for trainers looking to hatch Shiny Costume Pokemon from event-themed 7 km Eggs.
Many Costume Pokemon, like Dedenne and Glaceon, are featured in One and Three-Star Raids. The Premium Battle Passes can be useful for players Shiny hunting such creatures.
The first page of the Research includes reward encounters with Ice-type Pokemon. However, the second page notably offers 8 Sandygast encounters.
