Should you use DLSS/FSR Frame Gen in Mafia The Old Country to improve FPS for smoother gameplay? Here’s the answer to this burning question.
Mafia The Old Country is the fourth installment in the Mafia franchise, but it’s a prequel to the previous games. The new game is set in the early 1900s, which is much before the events of the other three titles. Mafia The Old Country puts you in the shoes of Enzo Favara, who must join the Torrisi Mafia to have a better life.
Players should enjoy the rich narrative and the familiar gameplay mechanics, yet many can’t. That’s because the game is extremely intensive in terms of system requirements, and even a mid to high-end system may fail to play it at 60FPS. When users can’t secure 60 FPS even with upscaling, then the only solution left is to use Frame Gen, which promises to double or even quadruple the FPS on supported systems.

How Many Frame Gen Tech are Available in Mafia The Old Country?
Mafia The Old Country supports all three Frame Gen technologies: DLSS, FSR, and XeSS. It’s great to see game developers adopting XeSS Frame Generation. It is relatively new compared to established solutions, such as FSR and DLSS Frame Gen. Speaking of DLSS, Mafia The Old Country has also adopted DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation. Therefore, the RTX 50 series GPU owners can triple or even quadruple the frame rates for an ultra-smooth visual experience.
However, Multi-Frame Gen is not available on AMD and Intel GPUs yet. If you own these graphics cards from these two vendors, you will need to rely on the regular Frame Gen.
Should You Enable Frame Gen in Mafia The Old Country?
It’s no secret that using Frame Gen technology increases latency, irrespective of its benefits. While it can be somewhat mitigated using technologies such as Nvidia Reflex, AMD Anti-Lag 2, or Intel XeLL, it is not the most desirable solution for increasing performance.
However, unlike competitive and esports titles, where low latency and instant responsiveness are crucial, Frame Gen technologies can be used in story-driven games like Mafia The Old Country.
Therefore, if your system fails to deliver a solid 60 FPS and above in Mafia The Old Country, you can enable DLSS/FSR/SeSS Frame Gen to increase FPS dramatically and enjoy smoother visuals. While FSR and XeSS Frame Gen can only double the FPS, the DLSS Multi-FG can triple or quadruple the FPS.
The game will appear smoother than ever before. However, we only recommend using the regular Frame Gen instead of Multi-FG. This minimizes the latency penalty and ensures the game still feels responsive.
