How To Get Black Sparrow Crest in Silent Hill F
To reach the area where the Black Sparrow Crest is hidden, you first need to complete the fight against your parents in the Shimizu Residence. After that battle, move through the long hallway until you arrive at the Dark Shrine Rooms. In the central mural room, read the notes on the table to understand that you need three crests in total to continue. The Black Sparrow Crest is the first piece of that puzzle.
Start with the left door from the mural room. This takes you into a chamber filled with fox statues. Since this section of the game offers no map, you will have to rely on observation. Inspect the fox statue on the left side of the room. Doing so triggers a note and changes the statue’s pointing direction. Follow where it leads. The correct path will bring you into the Western Chambers.
Keep moving through until you find a hallway ending with an altar and a chest. Before you can claim anything, the room fills with threats. Two types of enemies appear here: the Oi-Omoi and the Blade Legs creatures.

The Oi-Omoi is heavy, slow, and dangerous if you stay too close. It drops into a kneel before releasing a stunning cry, so wait for that move to finish before stepping in. The Blade Legs enemies are the opposite. They are quick and aggressive, often announcing their rushes with sharp sound cues. Their spinning attacks can catch you off guard, so practice dodging at the right moment.
Your Fox Arm weapon is the most effective choice here, especially since perfect dodges open up counter opportunities. Be aware that some monsters may hide behind illusory walls. You must clear out every enemy in the chamber for the chest to unlock.
Once the fight is over, open the chest to finally claim the Black Sparrow Crest. Before you leave, check the east side of the chamber. A hidden passage sits behind an illusory wall. Use your Focus Sense to reveal it, then activate the talisman inside. This transports you back to the mural room, where you can continue your objective.
How To Use the Black Sparrow Crest in Silent Hill F
Once you collect it, the Black Sparrow Crest goes directly into your Key Items inventory. Its only purpose is for the Mural Puzzle in the Dark Shrine Rooms. You need two other crests as well, the White Sparrow Crest from the Southern Chambers and the Fox Mask Crest from the Eastern Chambers. Only when you gather all three can you complete the puzzle and push the story forward.
Keep in mind that the crest’s location is fixed regardless of difficulty settings. Also, the chest will never open unless every enemy in the Western Chambers has been eliminated. If you overlook even one behind an illusory wall, you will not be able to progress. The task is also tied to the trophy called Sly Like the Fox, which rewards you for collecting all crests without choosing the wrong paths.
