In Silent Hill F, you will come across plenty of items that feel optional, but some of them carry more weight than you realize. The Key to Sakuko’s Mailbox is one of those. It doesn’t just open a simple box outside her house; it gives you rewards and ties directly to a trophy. The tricky part is that it’s easy to miss.
If you skip it, there’s no going back later in that run. In this article, we will explore how to get the Key to Sakuko’s Mailbox and how to use it in Silent Hill F.

How To Get the Key to Sakuko’s Mailbox in Silent Hill F
You will only be able to pick up the key during your second trip to Ebisugaoka in Chapter 3. This is important: if you don’t grab it during this part, it won’t be there later. To find it, start heading north from Sakuko’s house like you are making your way to Rinko’s. At the fork, stick to the left path that climbs uphill. This takes you to Sennensugi Shrine.
Once you are near the shrine gate, look to the left side. There’s a gravestone and some rocks there, along with a letter from Sakuko’s mother. The key is sitting right next to it, and you will know it’s the right one because of the “Igarashi” tag. While you are already at the shrine, it’s worth scooping up the other items lying around, like the Antique Comb, some Arare, and Divine Water. That way, you don’t have to make another trip.

How To Use the Key to Sakuko’s Mailbox
Once you have the key, don’t push the story forward just yet. Head back the way you came. Go south from the shrine until you reach the General Store area, then cut through the northwest alley. That will take you back to Sakuko’s house. Enemies might pop up on the way, especially close to her place, so you will need to decide whether to fight them or just run past.
Once you are there, look to the side of her front door, and you will see the mailbox. Use the key and open it up. Inside, you will find two important rewards.
- One is the Omamori Spider charm, which makes your weapons last longer by cutting down durability loss during light attacks.
- The other is a hospital letter that adds a personal layer to Sakuko’s story, giving you more context about what she’s been through.
In addition to it, you will get the “A Federal Offense” bronze trophy just for opening it. But don’t wait too long. If you decide to move too far into the Rinko part of the chapter, you will lose the chance to use the key. You basically have to handle it right after finding it, or risk locking yourself out.
