In this guide, we shall go over the Sanity feature in Silent Hill F, discuss how it works, and detail the ways you can restore it.

Sanity is an integral part of the story of Silent Hill F, and conveniently doubles as a game mechanic as well. This mechanic essentially helps you keep tabs on Hinako’s mental state, and the better it is, the better she (and thereby you) can do in combat scenarios.
The problem, however, is that Sanity depletes fairly easily in Silent Hill F. Taking psychological hits from enemies cuts down on the meter, and restoring it is something you need to do as soon as possible. The game, unfortunately, offers very few hints on how to do so, but that’s what we’re here to help you with.
How Does Sanity Work in Silent Hill F

Sanity is the flower-like meter you see near your health bar in Silent Hill F. This meter allows you to use the game’s Focus mode, which in turn lets you use the Focus Attacks. These are some of the strongest attacks in the game, and Sanity is what you need to use them.
As you go about using the Focus mode, however, your Sanity slowly depletes. If you’re unlucky and take a hit while using the Focus mode, your Max Sanity will also take a hit, reducing the size of your Sanity bar.

How To Restore Sanity in Silent Hill F
Using the powerful Focus mode consumes your Sanity, so you’ll want to restore it using the following ways:
- Exit the state of Focus and let it recover automatically.
- If you can’t afford to let it recover slowly, use items such as Divine Water or Ramune. Add these items to your quick slot and press LB/L1 with the corresponding key to use the item.
- Visit any of the Hokora shrines and interact with them. Select the “Clear Mind” option from the menu to restore the Max Sanity. This will cost you Faith. If you’re on the Story mode difficulty, you can restore your health and Sanity by simply resting at a shrine.
