Silent Hill games have no shortage of incredibly challenging puzzles that put your critical and logical thinking to the test. The same holds true for Silent Hill F as well. In fact, the latest mainline Silent Hill game is jam-packed with puzzles that will keep you thinking for hours, just to come up with a viable solution. While most of these puzzles are explained quite well, some are a bit too vague. One such puzzle is the secret box in Ebisugaoka Middle School.
You essentially need to unlock this secret box to progress through the story. However, the hints that the game offers for this puzzle are incredibly cryptic. Thankfully, the solution to this puzzle is quite simple. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to solve the secret box puzzle in Silent Hill F.

Where To Find the Box Puzzle in Silent Hill F?
The box puzzle is part of the Ebisugaoka Middle School arc of the main story. The puzzle box can be found inside Hinako’s classroom on the second floor. However, before you can get to the classroom, you need to find a key that lets you access the upper floor. The key is in the garden within the school’s premises. Simply look for the Blue Flowers towards the edge of the garden, and you will find the key.
With the key in your possession, you can access the upper floor and make your way to the classroom. Furthermore, once you step inside the classroom, you cannot exit until you’ve solved the secret box puzzle.
You can find the box near a letter that seems to have been written by Rinko. The letter vaguely describes Rinko’s affection and feelings towards Shu, and her hatred for Hinako. This letter is also the only clue you will get to solve the secret box. The puzzle is based on Japanese boxes, with three locks on either side. Each lock contains two symbols and can be interacted with by pulling them horizontally.
You essentially need to reveal the right set of symbols to unlock the box.

How To Solve the Secret Box Puzzle in Silent Hill F?
The secret box puzzle essentially has three parts, each with its own complicated hints. The basic gist of the puzzle is that you need to find the key items mentioned in Rinko’s letter and use those symbols to unlock the box. However, as you progress through the puzzle, the letters keep getting more and more cryptic. To solve this puzzle, only use the symbols for items that are explicitly mentioned in the letters.
