Everything you need to know about the New Game Plus (New Game+) mode in Silent Hill F, how to unlock it, key features, and more.

Much like past Silent Hill games, Silent Hill F also has a dedicated New Game Plus (NG+) mode. However, unlike Silent Hill 2 Remake, where New Game Plus simply added a new weapon and a few new items for additional endings, Silent Hill F offers a lot more. Instead of just relegating New Game Plus to just another playthrough of the same scenario, Silent Hill F changes the mode by making it integral to the story itself.
Essentially, if you want to get the full context on the main story, you will have to play New Game Plus. This is very reminiscent of games like Dark Souls 2 and Armored Core 6. Here’s everything you need to know about the New Game Plus mode in Silent Hill F.

How To Unlock New Game Plus in Silent Hill F?

New Game Plus in Silent Hill F unlocks right after you finish your very first playthrough. You essentially get the option to create a New Game Plus save right after rolling the credits. If you decide to create an NG+ save, it will remove your most recent manual save file. You can, however, back up your save by creating another copy of it (overwriting a previous save).
Furthermore, you can also choose to start New Game Plus at a later time. However, do note that in order to start NG+, you do need a save file with a complete playthrough. Make sure not to overwrite that save until you’ve started NG+.
New Game Plus essentially allows you to start a fresh playthrough, but retain a few things from your previous save file. Additionally, New Game Plus is the only way to unlock new endings (and boss fights) in Silent Hill F.
What Is Included in Silent Hill F’s New Game Plus Mode?

The following things are carried over to New Game Plus from your previous playthrough:
- Faith
- Stat upgrades
- Non-puzzle documents and puzzle information
- Obtained Omamori (crafted and found)
- Certain key items (required for new endings)
Do note that your weapons and consumables aren’t carried over to NG+. However, depending on your choice of difficulty, you can get plenty of them in New Game Plus. Additionally, weapons obtained in Dark Shrine are also reset in NG+. That said, you do retain the stat upgrades, which does make going through NG+ much easier.
