Rebellion’s upcoming third-person shooter/stealth game, Sniper Elite Resistance, comes with some impressive graphical upgrades over its predecessor. While the game is released as a cross-gen title, it does feature significant improvements to its lighting and textures, granted it’s running on current-gen hardware. Much like the past Sniper Elite games, Resistance is built using Rebellion’s proprietary Asura engine.

However, for their latest title, the studio has made some major improvements, especially to the lighting model. As such, the game’s lighting and GI (global illumination) look vastly superior compared to Sniper Elite 5, which came out back in 2022.

However, the game, despite its lofty visuals, isn’t free from the usual issues seen in the Sniper Elite games. On PC, Sniper Elite can be quite a demanding title to run, especially if you’re on an older-gen system. Thankfully, the game comes with plenty of options to tweak in order to get the desired performance. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to optimize Sniper Elite Resistance on PC for optimal performance.

Sniper Elite Resistance System Requirements

Here are the official system requirements for Sniper Elite Resistance on PC:

Minimum

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 or later
  • Processor: Intel CPU Core i5-9400f or equivalent
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia 2060, Intel Arc A750, AMD Radeon RX 6600, or equivalent (6GB minimum)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 95 GB available space

Suffice it to say, the minimum requirements paint a pretty good picture of how demanding the game can be on PC. Although Resistance doesn’t require a high-end CPU, it certainly demands a good GPU and ample VRAM. In fact, the game’s minimum system requirements include GPUs that offer hardware ray-tracing support, as well as mesh shaders.

Best Settings for Sniper Elite Resistance on PC

On PC, Sniper Elite Resistance is mostly GPU-bound. Although you will still need a modern CPU to run it, any current-gen 4 Core/8 Threads (or better) chipset should help stay above 60fps easily. However, to maintain a stable and high frame rate, you will need plenty of GPU horsepower. At 1080p, the game regularly uses 5-6.5 GB of VRAM using the High preset.

However, if you plan to play the game at 1440p or higher, you will need at least 8 GB of VRAM, with 10 GB being recommended. Thankfully, the game does come with a handy resolution modifier, which you can use to adjust the internal rendering resolution of the game.

However, it should be noted that, at launch, Resistance does not feature AMD FSR or NVIDIA DLSS support. This certainly is a bummer for image quality enthusiasts. However, the game’s in-engine anti-aliasing solution is quite good, even at 1080p or lower resolutions. In terms of performance, the most impactful settings are: Shadow Detail, Reflection Detail, and Draw Distance. Texture Detail also impacts performance; however, it only does so if you’re VRAM-limited.

Here are the best settings that you should use for Sniper Elite Resistance on PC:

Reflection DetailLowMediumHigh
Draw DistanceLowMediumUltra

If you’re having trouble maintaining a steady frame time, we highly recommend limiting your frame rate using tools like Rivatuner or your GPU driver’s built-in limiter. Furthermore, if you’re playing at 4K, it’s best to use the resolution scaler to turn down the game’s internal resolution to 1440p or lower.
