Split Fiction is the new co-op adventure by Josef Fares, known for games like It Takes Two and A Way Out. With an extensive playtime of the main story, the game also introduces its players to multiple side missions.
The Legend of the Sandfish is the first side mission available in the second chapter. You’ll be journeying through the sands while committing to teamwork to escape the sandfish through the dunes. It is a beautiful segment where teamwork is enforced upon the players and a must-have in a game like this. Here’s your guide for The Legend of the Sandfish Mission.
Distracting The Sandfish
The initial progression of this side mission is barely complex. After entering the action-packed side mission, progress through the dunes and a sandy city thoroughly. Once you open a golden gate and slide from a cliff, you’ll reach an area with nothing but sand, including some minimal platforms to pass it.
The main problem here is the sandfish. If you or your friend directly jumps into the sand, the sandfish will catch up and obliterate you to bits. To pass this section, use the bells in the distance to distract the fish.
These bells are short distances from each other. To utilize them, one player should distract the fish from the first bell, allowing the other player to rush to the second bell on their right. Keep repeating this pattern with the four bells, and you’ll pass through the area in no time.
Riding The Sandfish
After distracting the sandfish and galloping through the platforms, you will reach a giant golden gate again. However, this time, you and your partner will be racing through the dunes atop two sandfish.
This segment is rather simple: time your jumps and keep your momentum consistent with the sandfish to complete it. In the end, you must leap through a giant portal, which will conclude the side mission, and you will return to the main campaign.
