Split Fiction, the upcoming title from Game of the Year award-winning studio Hazelight, has finally been announced. The announcement comes courtesy of The Game Awards 2024, where Hazelight’s director, Josef Fares, went to the stage to showcase the game, running in-engine. Furthermore, Josef also confirmed that, much like Hazelight’s previous titles, Split Fiction won’t feature any microtransactions or add-on purchases. On top of that, the game also offers a free Friend’s Pass; as such, you’ll only need to buy one copy of the game to play it with your friends.

Alongside these basic details, Hazelight also revealed a ton of other information regarding the game. Here’s everything you need to know about Split Fiction, including its official PC system requirements, pre-orders, and more.

Split Fiction PC System Requirements

Split Fiction, like Hazelight Studios’ previous two titles, A Way Out and It Takes Two, is built using Unreal Engine. However, instead of sticking with UE4, as in their previous two projects, Hazelight chose to go with Unreal Engine 5 for their latest title.

The use of UE5 is intentional, as it also fuels the game’s various level transitions. Instead of being masked by a loading screen, Split Fiction lets players switch between different levels (realities) in real time. This feature is somewhat similar to that in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Furthermore, the use of UE5 also translates to significantly increased visual fidelity. However, the increased visual fidelity and use of UE5, in general, come with significantly higher resource costs. This is best exemplified by the game’s PC specifications.

Like any other UE5 title, Split Fiction is highly VRAM-dependent. The recommended GPU for the game is an RTX 3070 or RX 6700XT equivalent. The game is also demanding in terms of CPU, with Hazelight recommending a Ryzen 7 5800X equivalent for 1440p 60fps.

That said, here are the minimum and recommended PC system requirements for Split Fiction:

Minimum

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10/11
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 – 4GB or Radeon RX 470 – 4GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 85 GB available space
