Stalker 2’s Zone is an unstable land due to both its nuclear radiation and power-hungry gangs. The King of the Hill quest in Stalker 2 throws you right in the middle of gang warfare, which is characterized by twists, betrayals, and murders. The quest is a roller coaster ride and perfectly encapsulates the bizarre world of Stalker 2.

How To Start the King of the Hill Quest
You can start the King of the Hill quest in Stalker 2 by simply playing through the main story. You will be handed the quest by Diode, the Slag Heap technician, after you meet him in the story. Diode will inform you that Nestor, the Slag Heap gang’s leader, has gone missing and ask you to look into the matter. With no leads to follow, he asks you to look into the local rival gang and Varan, kicking off the King of the Hill quest.
How To Complete the King of the Hill Quest
Varan and his gang reside at the Plant near the Slag Heap. This can be found just south of the area. Head to the plant and talk to Varan, and he will inform you that he captured your attacker from earlier in the main quest. This attacker may have information on Nestor, and you can interrogate him, but only if you do Varan a favor. You can either pay him 20,000 coupons or assassinate one of the rival gang leaders, Shah or Roosevelt. You can also kill Varan himself.

What Should You Do?
We do not recommend paying 20,000 coupons as it is a total waste of money that can be invested elsewhere. You can choose to kill either Shah or Roosevelt and then return to Varan. Note that Varan will then take you to Nestor’s body before turning on you and attacking you. The quest will end with you fighting off and killing Varan and his minions.
Killing Shah or Roosevelt will serve no narrative consequence, and regardless of who you choose, you will still end up fighting Varan. Therefore, we recommend killing Varan in the very beginning at the Plant.
Kill Varan and head deeper into the plant to find the attacker and Nestor’s bodies. Loot the bodies to retrieve the ‘unusual PDA’ and complete the King of the Hill quest.
