Vinegar is one such cooking ingredient that can help in creating several complex dishes. In turn, these dishes of culinary excellence can be used to recover health and energy or be gifted to characters to improve their friendship score.

Let’s take a look at how vinegar can be procured in Stardew Valley and all its potential uses.

How To Craft Vinegar in Stardew Valley

Vinegar used to be the only cooking ingredient you couldn’t craft in Stardew Valley. But since patch 1.6, vinegar is craftable using a common ingredient, rice. To craft vinegar:

  • Gather rice and have a Keg available.
    • Craft rice by placing unmilled rice in the Mill and collecting it the following morning.
  • Place the rice in the Keg.
  • After 10 hours, two vinegar will be produced per unit of rice placed in the Keg.

This crafting method is ideal if you produce rice and want to process it further to sell at a higher price and use it in cooking.

How To Use Vinegar in Stardew Valley

Vinegar has two main uses: as an ingredient in dishes and as a high-value rice product. Villagers dislike it as a gift.

Making Money Using Vinegar

One unit of rice sells for 100g. However, you can convert one unit of rice into 2 units of vinegar, which sell for 100g each. This makes vinegar twice as profitable as rice, essentially earning you 200g per unit of unmilled rice. Therefore, convert all your unmilled rice into rice using the Mill, followed by fermenting rice in the Keg for 10 hours, to create vinegar, which you can sell to maximize profit.
