Interact With the Shrine and Talk With Kendall
The quest starts by interacting with a Forgotten Shrine near the Abandoned Village in Horns of the South. Upon interacting with the shrine, the ghost of Kendall, a fallen Keeper Commander, spawns there. Kendall reveals that he was ambushed and gruesomely murdered by bandits at that very spot. Ever since, he has been bound to the shrine and haunting it. He then asks you to get his remains and take them to Berg, his teammate and friend. Interact with the shrine to find Kendall’s remains and pick up his skull.
Talk to Berg, the Keeper
After collecting the remains, find Berg, the Keeper. You can find him in the village to the far west, by the shoreline. Speak with Berg to learn what happened the day Kendall was killed. It is revealed that the bandits killed Kendall while he was with his teammates Berg, Tagdan, and Finley. The three traded Kendall’s life for their own, ending up maimed but spared. Since then, Kendall’s ghost has haunted Berg. Berg pleads with you to convince Kendall to forgive him. At this point, you will be given two options:
- Give the Kendall skull to Berg to get what he deserves.
- Talk to Kendall to spare his life by forgiving his mistake.
Return to Kendall at the Shrine
Before returning to Kendall, you may optionally speak to Tagdan and Finley to learn more about the events from their perspectives. Once you have made your decision with Berg, return to Kendall at the shrine. If you gave the skull to Berg, Kendall will find peace and allow you to use the shrine. Alternatively, if you convince Kendall to forgive Berg, he will stop haunting him. Additionally, if you spare Berg, you can visit him afterward to receive Berg’s Ring as a reward.
