How To Start the Crooked Trail Quest in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

In Act 2 of the game, you’ll reach the Cuanacht region. There, travel to the west of the Lower City, and you’ll find a group of workers out in the field. One of these characters will clearly standout because of his red cap. This NPC is named Rowan, and he has a favor to ask you.

Speak to him to learn about his family heirloom that a few deserters stole from him. Rowan will seek your help to retrieve the heirloom. If you accept the quest, he’ll mark the location of the deserter camp on your map.

How To Complete the Crooked Trail Quest in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

Head south from where Rowan is to find the deserter camp. Take out all of the enemies and search around. However, you won’t find the heirloom there. Instead, in the northern part of the camp, you’ll discover a letter from Rowan to the deserters. In it, he reveals that sending you to the camp in search of the heirloom is an elaborate trap. The plan was for the deserters to kill you and loot all your belongings. Apparently, Rowan has done this before as well. And, each time, he gets a share of the profits.

After learning of this deceit, head back to Rowan to confront him. After denying the allegations at first, he’ll finally fold and accept what he has been doing. This will mark the quest as complete. Rowan will appear as an enemy on your radar after this. You can either kill him or spare him. You can retrieve his red cap if you decide to kill the NPC.
