You can only get wood by interacting with the chopping blocks that are present in specific areas of the game map. Upon interacting with it several times, you’ll get multiple wood, but the chopping block will be exhausted. You can return to it after a few in-game days to once again retrieve wood from it.
The very first chopping block you’ll encounter in the game will be in the Castle during the opening hours. Make sure you use this to get as much of the wood as you can. You can return to it a few days later to grab some more. You’ll also find several other chopping blocks as you keep playing. Depending on how much wood you own, you can always interact with them to expand your collection.
Besides the chopping blocks, you can also buy wood from the Blacksmith. He will have a limited supply of wood for sale, and his stock will replenish over time once you buy all of the wood available. So, if you need some wood in a hurry and don’t want to head to a chopping block, the Blacksmith is a great option too. Dismantling some of your unused weapons or armor can also provide you with some wood.
