While exploring the fortress at Horns of the South, you will come across various Keepers. Talking to them triggers different side quests, such as Mom’s Finest Pie and The Warmest Coat, where you usually do some errands for them out of kindness. Pain Relief is one such side quest where you assist a Keeper struggling with a severe toothache. The side quest also unlocks a new recipe and rewards a valuable consumable upon completion.

Talk to Keeper Lanzo To Start the Quest

The Pain Relief quest can be initiated by talking to Keeper Lanzo at the fortress at Horns of the South. You can find him right outside Jann’s Quarters. He will mention that Jann Heber, the keep’s physician, refuses to treat his toothache. Moreover, he also confiscated the recipe of Lanzo’s grandmother, which made the Keeper more frustrated. In order to help Lanzo, you should talk to the healer inside his workspace, Jann’s Quarters.

Get the Toothache Remedy Recipe From Jann Heber

Enter Jann’s Quarters and find Jann Heber inside. Upon asking about his actions with Lanzo, he explains that removing the teeth is the only thing that eases his pain. He also mentions that he confiscated the recipe because he believes mixing the ingredients without proper knowledge can lead to poisoning with side effects. Despite his reluctance, you manage to trick the physician into revealing the ingredients of the recipe. After the conversation, you unlock the recipe for Toothache Remedy.

Make the Toothache Remedy and Give It to Keeper Lanzo

To craft a Toothache Remedy, you need the following:

• 1x Ale – Steal it from the Kitchen.
• 3x Sage – Obtained from a crate to the left of Keeper Lanzo.
• 5x Carnation – Obtained near a huge tree in the central area of the fortress.

Alternatively, you can also purchase all the ingredients from Jann Heber.

After collecting all the materials, interact with the Alchemy Station near Jann Heber. Select the Toothache Remedy recipe and hit the craft option. Once you have prepared the Toothache Remedy, return to Lanzo and give it to him. This concludes the Pain Relief quest and rewards you with a Menhir Figurine, a consumable that permanently increases Max Health by 5.
