As you go about gaining the trust of Fearghas in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon, he assigns you the task of checking out a cemetery. The dead have been rising once again, and Fearghas suspects that a necromancer is at play. The dead have instilled fear into his men, and Fearghas wants the cemetery cleared and its root cause investigated. This kicks off the Dead as Dreams quest in the game.

The Dead As Dreams quest in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon sends you over to investigate the Forgotten Cemetery. As you deal with the undead, you find an entrance heading deeper into the area. You’re greeted by Huardoc, the keeper of the crypt, who confirms your suspicions of a Necromancer at play. Pushing in further, you run into Yorath, the guilty Necromancer responsible for the recent turmoil.

Yorath has been meddling with the dead in a quest for knowledge, and you’re given the choice to kill him or persuade him. Both choices have their own merits, and we’re here to help you pick the right choice. We recommend not killing Yorath, as it leads to the good ending for the quest.

Why You Shouldn’t Kill Yorath in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

As mentioned earlier, we recommend not killing Yorath as his attempts to meddle with the death emerge from misguided curiosity more so than malice. Furthermore, he has the knowledge of the human body and can double as a doctor in these trying times.

If you choose to spare him, you can convince him to become a doctor and use his immense knowledge of humanity and death to heal victims of the Wyrdness, and perhaps the Red Death.

In order to convince Yorath to turn over a new leaf, you’ll need to talk to him and then head back to the crypt entrance to talk to Huardoc. Huardoc will deliver a sermon upon death, calling his master’s efforts futile and a waste of time. Take Huardoc’s words and deliver them to the Necromancer. Yorath will then rethink his decisions, opting to use his power to save lives instead.

What Happens If You Kill Yorath

If you choose to kill Yorath, you lose out on the good ending of the quest, but in turn get feasible rewards. These include:

  • Yorath’s Journal
  • A recipe for a mage armor set
  • Skull Staff
  • Three new spells (Burning Ember, Skeleton Army, Soul Salvage)
  • Yorath’s outfit (Necromancer’s Mask and Robe)

While these rewards may seem worthwhile, you can also obtain them by simply exploring other dungeons.
