Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon begins with you locked in a cell, berated and mocked by a Red Priest. These Red Priests have been conducting experiments on patients, mutating them and defiling their corpses in a holy attempt to cure the Red Death. The game makes you hate these priests from the get-go, and you run into them frequently on your journey across the continent.

As you go about Act 2 of the game, you learn that a few of Vrell’s books have been stolen. These books, which go over the stories of Liliana, were the subject of heresy and doom to one Red Priest in the area. The priest, Brother Ismat, had been preaching against the books, and he may have stolen them.

Once you approach the priest, you will learn that he has indeed stolen the books. The priest did so to save others from temptation and will ramble on about his beliefs. If you confront him, you will have to debate him by carefully answering his questions and countering his points. To get the best possible ending, you have to go through a specific sequence of dialog options. If you wish to know what they are, continue reading below.

Before you talk to the priest, read all the sermon books in the room. This will unlock all the dialog options you need to complete the quest.

  • “Yet it is not the act of the hand that condemns, but the heart that guides it astray.”
  • “Speaking on these matters, you seem to adopt an accusatory tone.”
  • “I think you allocate sanctity to the wrong things.”
  • “But is it really for you to judge? Even the Prophet is careful in judgment.”
  • “I believe what people do with their own bodies is their own business.”
  • “I’ve met people falling into temptation with good hearts, doing lots of good things for others.”

Pick the aforementioned dialog options, and the Red Priest will regret his actions. He’ll agree to peacefully return the books to Vrell, letting you get the best ending for the quest.
