Nora’s riddles can be a tough cookie to crack for players. Read our explanation on how to solve them with ease in Tales of Shire.

Tales of Shire offers a cozy and charming experience set in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Middle-earth. Unlike the adventures in The Lord of the Rings, this game invites players into the heartwarming life of a Hobbit. Tales of Shire takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The game includes activities such as tending to lush gardens, fishing, or throwing dinner parties for neighbors.
Tales of Shire captures the warmth and coziness of Hobbit culture, which is also reflected in various quests. One of the quests involves two characters, Daisy Took and Nora Burrows, around the Hobbit village of Bywater. Nora is her tutor, and as part of her lesson, Daisy has to solve three riddles. This is where we step in and try and help Daisy with her lesson.
Nora’s riddles are more than just playful brain teasers. They involve discovering different locations around Bywater. Once discovered, you will summon Daisy to the location for a short interaction. Check out our guide below on how to solve Nora’s three riddles.
Eye of the Lake

The first riddle given by Nora says, “In the eye of the lake, there stands a tree. And in its roots, you’ll find what you seek.” There are multiple lakes in Bywater, but this riddle is about a specific one. Since no other clues are provided, finding the spot by yourself can be time-consuming. This lake is located in the southern part of the map, near the Cotton Family’s house. Once you reach the lake, simply approach the glowing spot for a cutscene with Daisy.
In the Heart of the Forest

After you complete the first riddle, Daisy gives us another riddle to help her out with. The next riddle says, “In the heart of the forest, it calls. Where the river doesn’t run, it falls. Where the water doesn’t babble, it roars.” This riddle refers to a waterfall, which is near the first location. To get to the location, simply head east from the first riddle’s spot. Soon, you will reach a waterfall with a marked area. Reaching it will trigger another cutscene with Daisy. This will progress the quest further to its final stage.
A Traveller Without Foot or Wheel

This is possibly the most confusing riddle by Nora, as it isn’t straightforward. The last piece of the puzzle says, “A traveller without foot or wheel, its journey done, now resting its keel.” This is about Old Noakes’ fishing spot, where you will find his rowboat overturned. There, you will find a glowing marker like in the previous quests. Interact with the marker to summon Daisy and conclude the quest.
