In this guide, we explain how you can complete the Green Refuge task in The Alters and improve your bond with Jan Technician.
In The Alters, you will have to divide whatever time you have each day into gathering resources, improving your base, and fulfilling the many requests of your alters. Keeping them happy is always a good idea and the game gives you several options.
For some of them, you might be able to cook particular dishes. Others might request you to retrieve some lost items scattered across the planet’s surface. Regardless of the requests, it’s almost always worth the extra effort to fulfill their demands.
In Act 2, Jan Technician will ask you to find some ‘comfort’ items, thus starting the Green Refuge task. However, the vague instructions do not clarify what item he needs for comfort and where you can find it. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Green Refuge task in The Alters.
How To Complete the Green Refuge Task in The Alters
The main objective of this task is to retrieve a Holo Disc from somewhere on the planet. To do this, exit your base and head to the northwestern corner of the map. Along the way, you must scale a High Climb and pass through an Energy Wall. After that, follow the path around to find a park bench and container beside it. Pick up the Holo Disc from the container and then return to base.
A few pointers to remember here include:
- Have a few spare batteries with you before attempting to retrieve the item, as you will have to pass through an Energy Wall on the way. This will deplete your suit energy which you can recover using a battery.
- Also, make sure your grappling hook can make High Climbs. This ability will also be essential in completing one of the main story quests in Act 2.

After you return to base, head into the Research lab and create the Park with Bench module. You will need 40x Metal and 60x Minerals to craft this module. The module construction takes 10 hours. Speak to Jan Technician after the module is complete to complete the Green Refuge task in The Alters.
