Constructing Mining Outposts in The Alters facilitates the extraction of underground resources, directly transferring them over to your base.
The Alters puts you into the shoes of Jan Dolski, or rather, Jan Dolskis (plural!), as they attempt to survive being stranded on an alien planet. The game features a pretty emotionally charged tale, but between all the story beats, you put quite a chunk of time into collecting resources, emphasizing the survival aspects of the game.
As you progress through the game, the resource collecting process is streamlined with a Mining Outpost. The Mining Outpost connects a deep deposit to your home base, allowing you to transfer the resource directly to base with minimal effort. Now, while the game only starts out with one, you have the option to construct more Mining Outposts, and you absolutely should!
Constructing more Mining Outposts allows you to extract a greater number of resources, making the flow of the game smoother and faster. When you go about placing your Mining Outpost, you’ll notice that the game gives you the option to place another. However, when you go to place it, you won’t have any in your inventory. This is because you have to construct the Mining Outpost before you can place it. In order to construct more Mining Outposts, follow the steps given below:
- Head back to your main base.
- Use the main elevator and head to the floor where your Workshop is.
- Go to the Workshop and you’ll find a computer there.
- Walk over to the computer and press the displayed button prompt to interact with it. This will bring up a Production menu.
- The Production menu is split into two halves. Under the Exploration half, you will find the Mining Outpost. You can then construct the Mining Outpost using this menu and head back to the area where you wish to place it to do so.
