During Act 2 of The Alters, you will receive a task where you need to craft and place a Gravity Sensor at an appropriate location on the planet’s surface. However, you won’t receive any specific coordinates to visit. This can create confusion and leave players flustered.

In this article, we’ll help you figure out how to craft and install the Gravity Sensor in The Alters to complete this particular mission.

How To Craft a Gravity Sensor in The Alters

Crafting a Gravity Sensor will require the following materials.

  • 20x Minerals
  • 50x Metal

Once you have the above-mentioned crafting resources, head to the Workshop module in your base and begin the crafting process. It takes two hours of in-game time to complete the Gravity Sensor.

Once you have crafted the item, leave your base and head to the High Climb closest to your position. From there, go right and take another High Climb. Keep moving forward, and you should find one more High Climb that you’ll need to scale. This will take you to the peak of the canyon that Jan Scientist tells you about when the quest begins. Making such a perilous journey is only possible if you already have a few upgrades in place.

  • Make sure you have the Enhanced Climbing Tool. Otherwise, you simply won’t be able to scale any of the High Climb areas.
  • Have a few spare batteries on hand during this trek, as you’ll encounter a few Energy Walls en route. The extra batteries will ensure that you can recover any energy lost from coming into contact with the Energy Walls.
  • We also strongly recommend unlocking the Cheaper Climbing research beforehand. It reduces the cost of Medium and High Climbs by 50%.

After placing the Gravity Sensor on top of the canyon, you can place a fast travel pylon close to it to make returning to this point much easier. Next, return to Jan Scientist to inform him of your progress, and he will assign you the next task in this quest.
