Minerals are a crucial resource for survival in The Alters. This guide explains how to find and mine them in the base-building game.
To survive on the hostile planet, you need to gather essential materials such as Metals, Organics, and Rapidium. One crucial raw material is Minerals, which can be used for a wide variety of purposes. During the early game, you need Minerals to build the Wellbeing modules like the Social Room and Infirmary, which cost 30 and 60 Minerals, respectively.

Where To Find Minerals in The Alters?
You can find a mineral deposit area in the region located at the far northwest of your base. Since it is one of the farthest points from your base, you might have a long journey ahead through areas teeming with anomalies. If you find your path blocked by rocks and cliffs, use the Vertara Drill and Climbing Hook to clear your way and navigate the terrain. You will also encounter anomalies on the way. Just get past them by walking slowly to avoid radiation damage.
Once you have reached the destination, use your Polygonal Scanner to find the deep deposit spots, using knowledge gained from the Fundamentals mission.
How To Mine Minerals in The Alters
Once you discover the deepest deposit spot, open your tool wheel and construct a Mining Outpost at the location. After placing the outpost, place the Pylon to connect the outpost to your base. After establishing the connection, you can start mining Minerals. You can assign the idle Alters to mine the resources. If you want to end their mining shifts, simply unassign them through the ‘Assignments’ screen.
Once connected, the outpost also serves as a fast travel point, allowing you to quickly travel between your base and the outpost. Moreover, you can also recharge your suit at the connected outpost.
