In this guide, we’ll explore how you can increase the Qubit Levels in The Alters and why it is integral to do so.
In The Alters, you’ll have to constantly collect resources and build the next important upgrade in a bid to survive on a hostile planet. The base you build will need upgrades, and you’ll often have to seek help from your own clones, called Alters, to get things going. However, birthing the Alters or researching the complex upgrades isn’t possible without the Quantum Computer. Even the Quantum Computer has its limits, however.
As you continue progressing, you will unlock Qubit Levels for the computer in question, allowing you to fashion better upgrades and more Alter slots. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can unlock the Qubit Levels and produce better upgrades.
How To Improve Your Qubit Levels in The Alters
You will need to find a Damaged Chip every time you’re trying to increase the Qubit Levels. In the first act, you can find the Damaged Chip just to the southeast of your base. It should be inside a white case that’s surrounded by debris from your destroyed ship. After you’ve collected the Damaged Chip, return to your base and speak to the Technician Alter. Showing them the item reveals that it used to be a Qubit Chip, which somehow got damaged. You will have to repair it.
To do that, head to the Workshop and open the Available Items page. Under the Base section of the page, you should be able to find the Qubit Chip option. Select it, and you should be able to see the resources necessary to repair the Damaged Chip and make it whole. They are:
- 20x Minerals
- 20x Metals
- 1x Damaged Chip
If you have all of the items, you can start the repair process. It will take around 1 hour of in-game time to complete. Once you have the Qubit Chip in your possession, head to the Quantum Computer. As soon as you interact with it, the computer will inform you that you can upgrade the Qubit Level now. Hold down the corresponding button for the upgrade to complete.
You will be able to upgrade Qubit Levels in a similar manner in future acts. However, in Act 1, there’s only one Damaged Chip to find.

Why Should You Increase Qubit Levels in The Alters?
With the Qubit Level increase, you will be able to open up more slots in the Quantum Computer. You will need these slots if you’re planning to create more Alters of Jan. Each Alter you create takes up one of these slots. So, a constant stream of Qubit Level upgrades will help you get a number of Alters, each specializing in a particular department.
Higher Qubit Levels also ensure that you can expand your base and research additional modules in the base. Some research options that unlock with newer Qubit Levels also improve the efficiency at which you can salvage certain resources.
